Itinerary

Day 1: Home > Antananarivo

Today we arrive at the airport of Antananarivo. Upon arrival we will meet our local team and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Antananarivo > Andasibe

Departure to the east on the RN 2. Our first stop is the reserve of Peyrerias. This reserve is home to chameleons, frogs, snakes and bats. Lunch at a restaurant en route, then on to Andasibe Park – The dense, humid mountain rainforests of this park are filled with the hoots, grunts and howls of 11 different species of lemurs, including the fabled indris. This protected area consists of two different parks. Upon arrival we will check into the hotel.

We will head to a local community-run reserve for a night walk to see the nocturnal animals.

Day 3: Analamazaotra National Park & Vakona private reserve

In the early morning, we walk with a local guide to discover Analamazaotra National Park. It is mainly covered with primary forest pecullar to the east side of Madagascar. Many rare and endemic species can be found in this rainforest. Here we can meet Indri Indri, the largest of the lemurs. Their behavior is fascinating and your guide will tell you all about them. The park is also home to several species such as the gray bamboo lemur, woolly lemur and others. Other endemic fauna can also be found here. The flora is also very interesting, there are several types of medicinal plants that are listed here. After lunch, visit to the private reserve of Vakona, where you can get close to the lemurs and observe them in their natural habitat. Return to the hotel.

Day 4: Andasibe – Akanin’ny Nofy

Breakfast, return to the main road. Upon arrival at the Manambato pier, we will be transferred by boat across Lake Rasoa Be and along the Canal des Pangalanes to Akanin’ny Nofy, a site bordering Lake Ampitabe. In the evening, we will go for a night visit to the Palmarium Reserve.

Day 5: Akanin’ny Nofy

Akanin’ny Nofy is a true oasis of peace. It’s well worth a day’s visit and rest.
In the morning we visit the Palmarium, a nature reserve on a 50 hectare peninsula. Several species of lemurs live here in the wild. The reserve offers a variety of endemic plants and animals.
In the afternoon, relax on the beach and enjoy a swim.

Day 6: Akanin’ny Nofy – Tamatave – Mahambo

Your journey begins with a scenic boat ride from Akanin’ny Nofy, a hidden paradise nestled along the Pangalanes Canal. After a few hours on the boat, you’ll arrive in Tamatave (Toamasina), Madagascar’s largest port city, where the bustling streets and colonial-era charm await. From Tamatave, your adventure continues with a road trip along the picturesque coastal highway towards Mahambo. The drive takes you through lush countryside, passing small villages, palm-fringed beaches, and vanilla plantations. You’ll reach Mahambo at the end of afternoon, a laid-back beachside town known for its golden sands, surf spots, and relaxed atmosphere. This is the perfect place to unwind before continuing your exploration of Madagascar’s stunning east coast.

Day 7 : Mahambo > Sainte Marie

Set sail from Mahambo on a 3 to 4-hour boat journey to Sainte Marie, gliding across turquoise waters. Keep an eye out for dolphins and, during whale season (June–September), the majestic humpback whales. Arrive at this tropical paradise, where lush landscapes and pristine beaches await.

Day 8 & 9 : Sainte Marie

Relax and explore at your own pace in Sainte Marie, a true island paradise. Unwind on its white sandy beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, or take a boat trip to discover hidden coves. For adventure seekers, explore the island’s lush interior by bike or visit the historic pirate cemetery. During whale season (June–September), don’t miss the chance to witness humpback whales in their natural habitat.

Day 10 : Sainte-Marie > Antananarivo

Transfer to the airport. Flight to Tana. Time permitting, we’ll do a city tour of Tana, as the capital is commonly known. There’s a huge amount of history and culture to discover.

Day 11 : Antananarivo > Departure

Visit and shopping at the market handcraft.

Transfer back to the airport. Fly homewards.
