Itinerary

Day 1: Home > Antananarivo

Today we arrive at the airport of Antananarivo. Upon arrival we will meet our local team and transfer to the hotel. Time permitting, we’ll do a city tour of Tana, as the capital is commonly known. There’s a huge amount of history and culture to discover.

Day 2: Antananarivo > Antsirabe

Breakfast. Drive on the national road N°7, stop in Ambatolampy for visit of the foundry renowned for its production of aluminum items, such as kitchen utensils, sculptures, and other aluminum products. Continuation till Antsirabe, the capital of the Vakinankaratra region and is known for its thermal springs, cool climate, and picturesque landscapes. Arrival to Antsirabe, let’s have a rickshaw tour of the city of Antsirabe, it’s a fantastic way to explore the city and immerse in its unique atmosphere. You can visit the historic buildings, local markets, and charming colonial architecture, or places like Place de l’Indépendance, a central square surrounded by cafes and shops.

Antsirabe

Day 3: Antsirabe > Ranomafana

After breakfast, depart for Ambositra before continuing to Ranomafana. Along the way, explore the traditional woodcraft of the Zafimaniry people, known for their intricate carvings on furniture, doors, and panels, using fine local woods like rosewood, ebony, and mahogany. Upon arrival in Ranomafana, check in at the hotel.

Day 4: Ranomafana > Fianarantsoa

After breakfast, set off with a local guide to explore Ranomafana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2007. Home to 15 endemic lemur species, the park also features abundant streams, some with naturally hot water. A visit to Ranomafana offers a unique chance to experience Madagascar’s incredible biodiversity and observe rare wildlife in their natural habitat. After lunch, road to Fianarantsoa.

Day 5: Fianarantsoa > Ranohira

After breakfast, departure to explore the city. Originally a royal town, Fianarantsoa became an administrative center in 1830 under colonial rule. Its name, meaning ‘good education’ in Malagasy, reflects its historical role as a hub of learning. Continue to Ambalavao and visit the Antemoro paper workshop, where this traditional handmade paper—renowned for its durability and unique texture—is crafted for artistic use. Visit of Anja Park, known for its stunning landscapes and rich wildlife, especially its thriving population of ring-tailed lemurs. Enjoy a guided tour to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat while exploring the park’s diverse flora and fauna. Continue to Ranohira.

Day 6: Ranohira

After breakfast, explore Isalo National Park, renowned for its dramatic sandstone formations, deep canyons, waterfalls, and natural pools. Spanning 81,540 hectares, this breathtaking landscape has been sculpted by wind and water over millions of years. The park offers diverse hiking trails, where you can encounter lemurs, chameleons, and a variety of bird species. Conclude the day with a stunning sundowner at the iconic Isalo Window.

Day 7: Ranohira > Ifaty

After breakfast, drive to Tuléar and continue to Ifaty for a visit to the Reniala Reserve, one of the last remnants of the South’s primary spiny forest. Home to diverse bird and reptile species, the reserve also hosts groups of ring-tailed lemurs. Discover a remarkable collection of endemic plants, including Didieraceae, Pachypodium, Euphorbia, and towering baobabs. Among them stands Ifaty’s largest baobab, known as the ‘teapot’ for its unique shape—estimated to be 1,500 years old with an impressive 10-meter circumference.

Day 8: Ifaty

Enjoy this day of relaxation in Ifaty, where you can unwind on the beach or explore a variety of activities. Take a nature walk, go birdwatching, or connect with the local Vezo community for a cultural experience. Overnight at the hotel.
